At the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2016 Emirates has been named the World’s Best Airline 2016, a global benchmark of airline excellence. This year’s Skytrax awards were based on a total of 19.2 million completed surveys covering 280 airlines, by customers from more than 104 countries. This is the fourth time Emirates has won the top accolade since the airline awards were introduced 15 years ago; the airline won the first ever Skytrax World’s Best Airline in 2001, again in 2002 and in 2013. In total, Emirates has won a total of 20 Skytrax World Airline Awards since 2001.

Skytrax World Airline Awards are coveted Quality accolades for the world airline industry. Travellers from across the globe take part each year in the world’s largest airline passenger satisfaction survey to decide the award winners. The World Airline Awards are a global benchmark of airline excellence, and widely known as the Passengers Choice awards.
In addition Emirates got the awards for World’s Best Inflight Entertainment for a record 12th consecutive year, and Best Airline in the Middle East. The Award for the world’s Best Airline Inflight Entertainment is a coveted Quality distinction and a very competitive aspect of today’s air travel experience. The award recognises airlines delivering the best choice and quality of inflight entertainment, and with due regard to the global nature of air travel. From the choice and currency of movies, TV programmes, music and games through to the availability and functionality of onboard wifi, this is about honouring those airlines that seek to deliver a fantastic experience to their passengers.
